Magic in Vegas might more immediately conjure up thoughts of Siegfried and Roy than eco fashion, but it is indeed the latter that we will talk about today. We’ve already told you about tradeshows going green from New York to Berlin, the latest convert is Las Vegas’ giant fashion tradeshow Magic.
Running from August 25th to 27th, Ecollection at Magic will be a juried selection of approximately 70 environmentally and socially conscious exhibitors as well as educational programs and activities with industry leaders. For this first foray into sustainable style, Ecollection has partnered with the Organic Exchange who will provide information on the benefits of increasing the production and use of organic fibers. Daily activities will be reported on eco blogs Inhabitat and ECOfabulous.
The organizers are even creating a special lounge for eco-buyers with bamboo furniture by Lounge 22, an art installation by eco jewelry brand Smart Glass.
As far as the style of the attending brands, the focus seems to be on the more casual side of the eco fashion sphere, several brands feature organic graphic t-shirts and great basics. One stand out so far is Lizzie Parker, who stretches the boundaries of casual design to create some truly unique and multi-functional pieces.
